Award Purpose
In the post-pandemic era, the people of Hong Kong have become ever more conscious of their health, and the wellness industry has found new room for growth. Companies in this sector are called upon to do more than supply a wider range of better-quality health products and services. They are also expected to shoulder social responsibility, promote health in the community, and embed ESG principles into their operations so that their development remains sustainable. Doing so will help them stand out in a highly competitive market and, above all, make a greater contribution to the health of Hong Kong people.
The Hong Kong Medical and Nursing Healthcare Development Association, together with its partner medical organisations and experts, presents the Healthcare Professionals' Choice — Extraordinary Healthcare Brand Awards. Through the media and various platforms, the Awards recognise and commend companies for their contribution to the health sector and their efforts in promoting a culture of health over the past year. In addition, ESG practice is built into the assessment criteria, so that companies distinguished in environmental protection, social responsibility and sound governance may be commended, further strengthening their sustainability and the standing of their health brands within the industry.

Honours, certifications and brand management — whether the company has received other awards or holds recognised certifications such as ISO, together with its brand strategy and management.

Contributions to health promotion — participation in or support for community health promotion activities, and contribution to public health.
15%
Core values — whether the company fosters a culture of health within the workplace, for example through employee health benefits, health education and training, and a health-conscious working environment and facilities.

Healthcare Professionals' Choice — Health Achievement Award: Ms Mak Nga-chi, Angie (Former TVB artiste; television and radio programme host)
Ms Mak, a former artiste of TVB and a television and radio programme host, holds a Master of Arts in Child and Family Education from The Education University of Hong Kong. She is an active advocate of World No Tobacco Day and draws on her own experience as a mother of three to encourage a smoke-free family culture.
Healthcare Professionals' Choice — Health Achievement Award: Prof. ZEE Chung-ying, Benny (Former Director, Office of Research and Knowledge Transfer Services, The Chinese University of Hong Kong; Honorary Professor of Biostatistics, Jockey Club School of Public Health and Primary Care).
Healthcare Professionals' Choice — Health Achievement Award: Prof. KAO Yi Tsun, Richard (Associate Professor, Department of Microbiology, School of Clinical Medicine, Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, The University of Hong Kong)
Professor Zee is one of the principal developers of ARIA (Artificial Intelligence Retinal Image Analysis) technology. In 2024, his team won a Gold Medal and a Special Prize for this technology at the 49th International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva.
Professor Kao's achievements in infectious disease treatment and medical technology innovation have been widely recognised, including the ICPIC (International Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy / International Conference on Prevention and Infection Control) Innovation Award in Academic Research in 2017, the China Medical Science and Technology Award in 2018, and the National Science and Technology Progress Award in 2019.

The organisation now known as the International Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (ISAC) held the International Conference on Prevention and Infection Control (ICPIC) in 2017.
